TPU ( Thermoplastic Poliurethan)
TPU is one of the "soft touch" polymer that hardness varies from 55 Shore A and 70 Shore D. TPU polymers differs from other "soft touch" polymers in terms of individual higher properties. These properties are; improved wear resistance, high impact strenth at lower temperatures, good tear resistance and chemical resistance against oils, grease and solvents. There are many types of TPU. Nevertheless, there are two main types polyester and polyether base, depending on softening degree. It's produced depending on two main structure.
Characteristics
• Polyester base, hardness from 65 Shore A to 55 shore D
• Polyether base, hardness from 95 Shore A to 65 shore D
• Excellent wearing strength
• Higher elasticity
• Higher tensile and tear resistance
• Oil resistance
• Excellent low temperature properties.
• TPU can be used within wide range of temperatures. Normally from -40°C’to 80°C, even some grades at 120°C for short term.
• Polyether based TPUs are generally used extreme conditions like hydrolise and anti microbial conditions.
Applications
Shoe sole, phone cases, sealed products, gear lever, table and handles, sealing and conveyor bands, wheel ,electronic appliances, cable coating, protection items, medical tubes, headphones.
